The Microtech Auto UTX-70 is the smallest out-the-front automatic in this group. It measures 3.5in closed with a 2.38in blade. The slider fires the blade out of the end of the handle and pulls it back in again.
This is the Gen IV version, and the blade steel is Bohler M390MK. M390 is a powder metallurgy stainless built for edge retention. For a start, it stays sharp through far more cutting than a budget steel would manage. It also handles damp and salt without staining. The trade is sharpening, which takes diamond or ceramic rather than a cheap stone.
The Microtech Auto UTX-70 has a black aluminum handle and the Apocalyptic blade finish, a deliberately worn, stonewashed look that hides marks. A glass breaker sits at the rear of the handle. There is a pocket clip and a lanyard hole as well.
Keep the track free of lint and give it a little oil now and then. The action stays crisp that way.
